The Monroe Symphony Orchestra and the Lagniappe Brass present American Street Songs: A Musical Journey Across the United States. The members of Lagniappe Brass are constructed of ULM faculty and professors. The concert will not only include brass instruments but will feature a special guest percussion player.
The concert will be on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall. The start time is set for 7:00PM.
As in the title of the program, the concert will feature a wide range of music. It will include an assortment of artists, along with a variation of genres. Some pieces of the program include Scherzo by John E. Cheetham, Iron Horse by Kevin McKee, and Jive for Five by Paul A. Nagle. The concert will even incorporate music from the Disney film, The Incredibles.
KEDM' Cory Crowe sat down with Lagniappe Brass members Eric Siereveld and James Boldin to talk about the upcoming event, and what it will bring to its listeners. "This is going to be a fun program for people to hear," claims Siereveld. They are striving to take the audience through the history of music in the United States. "We are going to cover everything from jazz to popular music, to music from film scores," Boldin announces. Boldin also declares that "We are going to take people on a musical journey... music has the power to take you to different places and different times."
Tickets are $20 for general admission, and people college age or younger who come with a student ID will gain access for free. Tickets can be purchased online, as well as at the door.
