Governor Bobby Jindal and legislative leaders are talking about the possibility of limiting the size of tax credits, especially when the credit is higher than what the person or business pays in taxes.
Senate President John Alario says the move would likely affect the film tax credit program. "The state could end up with revenues that weren't there before," Alario said. The move could create some dollars for the state, as it braces for a legislative session addressing a $1.6 billion shortfall.
Alario says another idea being discussed is a tax break for businesses that donate money to college campuses. However, he cautions, the state would then have to find a way to finance the break.
