La. Policyholders Get Filing Extension For Red River Flooding

shreveporttimes.com

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended its filing deadline for Louisiana policyholders impacted by recent Red River flooding.

FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program normally requires homeowners to file a Proof of Loss form to claim damages within 60 days of a flood. The agency has authorized an additional 180-day extension during which a policyholder may submit the form.

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says the extension applies to Louisiana policyholders who submit claims related to flooding from May 16 to June 16.
