Former congressman Vance McAllister is a candidate for Senate District 33.
The Swartz businessman says he had no intention of jumping back into politics. "But, I had so many elected officials and politically-active people in the district wanting me to seriously consider it," said McAllister.
Regarding the budget, he says Louisiana needs to recoup money from too many tax credits. "The credits that are working and generating state money, those are fine. We really need to look at others scrub, clean, or prioritize those items," he said.
McAllister remains committed to expanding Medicaid in Louisiana. He believes the state continues to loose healthcare dollars to other states, creating a greater burden for Louisiana taxpayers.
