Ouachita Parish residents had a chance to meet local candidates at the 90.3 KEDM Public Radio Candidate Forums. KEDM, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce and the University of Louisiana at Monroe Student Government Association hosted three Candidate Forums in September.
The Louisiana Senate Candidate Forum took place Thursday, September 5 at 6 p.m. for Senate Districts 32, 33, and 35 at “The Terrace” 7th Floor Conference Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Library.

The Louisiana House Candidate Forum took place Thursday, September 12 at 6 p.m. for House Districts 15 and 16 at “The Terrace” 7th Floor Conference Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Library.

The Ouachita Parish Candidate Forum took place on Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at the West Monroe Convention Center for other parish-wide races including Policy Jury, Clerk of Court, Sheriff, Tax Assessor, Coroner, and West Monroe Alderman.

The Candidate Forums are an opportunity for residents, business andcommunity leaders to learn more about the candidates. Forums were broadcast LIVE on 90.3 KEDM Public Radio, KEDM.org, and Facebook Live; and archived at KEDM.org.
The election will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019. The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is September 11, or online September 21, 2019. Early voting takes place September 28, 30, and October 1-5, 2019.
Candidates in contested races who have qualified for the upcoming election were invited to attend the forum pertaining to their office. Each candidate was given an opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience. In addition, candidates were asked questions by the forums’ moderator, KEDM News Director Cory Crowe. Finally, each candidate had the opportunity to make brief closing remarks.
