Jay calls himself a "media producer" in a world of diversification. Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio/TV/Film Production from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and worked in video and television production for more than 10 years before joining KEDM full time.

He started at KEDM in 1993 as a student board operator, and worked in production and promotion on a part-time basis while working full time in video. In May of 2009, Jay became KEDM's Program Director, and became KEDM's General Manager in August of 2012.

Jay still regularly freelances in sports television production for ESPN, Cox Sports, and others. Jay and his family live in West Monroe.

The Republican health care bill under consideration in the House of Representatives would change health coverage for a lot of people. It would no longer require that Americans buy health insurance, for instance, and it would eliminate current subsidies, replacing them with a fixed refundable tax credit.

President Trump has signed a revised executive order, once again barring travel to the United States from six majority-Muslim countries and suspending the U.S. refugee program.

The new order is similar to the president's January order that was blocked by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. But this latest order leaves Iraq off the list of barred countries.

GLOVIS America announced a new inland distribution center for imported vehicles to be located at the former General Motors plant in Shreveport. 

Glovis will make a $1 million capital investment and create 150 new direct jobs, with an average salary of $31,760, plus benefits. The Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimates the project will result in 246 new indirect jobs, for a total of 396 new jobs in northwest Louisiana.

Governor John Bel Edwards has issued a Public Health Emergency for the Town of St. Joseph in north Louisiana. Residents are advised to use an alternative source for drinking water.

On December 15, test results conducted by the Office of Public Health showed elevated levels of lead in two samples – a private residence and the Town Hall. Results also showed two other sites with elevated levels of copper – both were private residences.

The University of Louisiana Monroe held the grand opening ceremony for its completely renovated Sandel Hall and Barnes & Noble bookstore on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m.

The $17.4 million, 88,000-square-foot building is a “one-stop shop” for students, representing a step forward in the revitalization of ULM’s facilities. The building houses the university bookstore, the office of recruitment and admissions, the university registrar, financial aid, the scholarship office, campus radio station KXUL, an innovation center, and other core administrative departments.
