The Biedenharn Museum & Gardens is celebrating spring by opening a new exhibit, Images of Christ, and hosting several new events.
"Images of Christ" is a new major exhibit on display from March 22, 2018 to January 5, 2019. The exhibit features both two and three-dimensional depictions of Jesus created by artists of various national and ethnic origins. Artwork comes from museum collections and private collectors. There are three public programs by outside scholars and multiple presentations concerning the exhibit by Museum Director Ralph Calhoun.
"We borrowed a Rembrandt sketch from a museum in Mississipi," says Calhoun. The sketch, which is roughly the size of a notecard, depicts Mary holding Jesus in a European setting, and Joseph can be seen looking through a window. The small sketch is the first Rembrandt showing at the Biedenharn Museum.
Snapshot Saturday is March 31 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the ELsong Garden. The public is invited to dress in their Easter best and take photos in the garden with the Easter Bunny. There are props, eggs, and tulips located in the garden for guests to pose with.
The 28th Annual Garden Symposium is April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum. The event features a distinguished panel of guests, including presentations from Gary Bachman, Jill Forrester, Elizabeth Prine and Kayla Jobe.
