TECH ENTREPRENEURS - Starting a business from scratch can be a challenging process,  especially if it's a high-tech business trying to sell a product or service that is charting into unknown territory.  Well there's a free 10-week seminar series that begins today in Shreveport where the focus is on Science-based entrepreneurism.  It's  hosted by LSU Health Shreveport's Office of Sponsored Programs and Technology Transfer.  The seminar called: "The Business of Science" will take place at the former Christus Schumpert Hospital at 915 Margaret Place in Shreveport.   I  recently visited  new high-tech company in Shreveport  to learn more.  John Childlow is co-founder and CEO of a new tech startup called  Innolyzer Labs at InterTech Park in

Shreveport.  Childlow showed me a 3D printer that was making a dental model for a client using a computer aided design process; it's just another way his company can use it's technical capabilities for different  applications.  He's just one of the many speakers at "The Business of Science" seminar.  He says the idea behind the seminar series is to educate would-be science entrepreneurs about the various aspects of starting a business ranging from protecting intellectual property,  writing a business plan to securing licenses, etc.  "There's no reason why our area can't develop a bio-tech industry with all the resources we have."  Childlow was referring to the regional colleges and universities with their engineering and health sciences programs.
