Monroe Police Chief Exam Process Announced

New Monroe Police Chief should be in place this fall.

The Monroe Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board has received official notice from the Office of the State Examiner for Fire & Civil Service, in Baton Rouge, that a posting period and date has been set for the Monroe Police Department Police Chief Exam.

The official exam period is set for September 16 thru October 15, 2017.  All who are interested in applying for the position of Monroe Police Chief must sign up to take the Chief’s Exam during this period.  They can mail in their application via online instructions on the State Examiner's site, OR they can turn in their application Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am until 5 pm at the Monroe Public Safety Center, located at 1810 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Monroe, LA.

Mayor Jamie Mayo comments, “I am confident we will have several quality candidates to take the exam and apply for the position of Monroe Police Chief.  After we receive the test results, I will select several candidates to interview for the position.  Once the interview process has been completed, I will make my selection for Police Chief.  Given the date for the exam, I expect that my selection will be made just after the first of the new year.  I will then present my selection to the Monroe City Council for confirmation.”
