Police Officer Ayrian Williams Chose Monroe

Monroe Police Officer Ayrian Williams died Monday night while trying to assist her fellow officers in south Monroe. The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. when her police car attempted to avoid a road hazard on S. 8th Street in Monroe.  Her vehicle left the roadway and impacted a large tree. Emergency medical personnel took the officer to St. Francis Hospital where she died due to her injuries. 

Williams chose to work in Monroe when she was hired on November 15, 2017. She worked in the patrol division. Previously, she was an officer at Southern University in Baton Rouge and studied at criminal law at Louisiana State University.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo says, "This is a tragic time for the entire City of Monroe and Monroe Police Department."

This is the 2nd vehicle accident this year that has resulted in the death of a Monroe Police Officer.   Officer Chris Beaudin, was killed in January when his vehicle left a roadway and hit a tree in south Monroe.

Her family is traveling to Monroe to make final arrangements. Ayrian Williams was 26 years old.
