Saturday, March 18th, the Monroe Symphony Orchestra is holding its Spring POP's Concert, Simply Sinatra. The concert will be held in the Monroe Civic Center Arena at 7 p.m.

Steve Lippia, a practical double for Sinatra's voice, will be the guest singer at this concert. Lippia will be singing classic Sinatra music, along with classical swing music. Still an orchestra concert, Lippia will be accompanied by the orchestra.

Saturday, March 11th the Louisiana Delta Ballet is putting on its 10th annual Dancing with the Louisiana Stars fundraisers. This dancing competition, based on the popular Dancing with the Stars  TV series, will be held at the Monroe Civic Center at 7 p.m. preceded by a pre- party at 6 p.m. Dancing with the Louisiana Stars pairs 'local celebrities' with dancers from the Louisiana Delta Ballet.

Saturday, November 12th is America Recycles Day. Ouachita Green will be accepting donations at the Monroe Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

America Recycles Day is a way to get communities and families thinking about and participating in recycling.

The Bayou Black Open Rodeo comes the Monroe for the 16th year on Saturday August 20 at 7 p.m. in Monroe Civic Center Arena. The day begins with a parade starting at Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo at 9 a.m, and ending at the Civic Center.

Also in conjunction with the event, the Monroe Convention Center hosts a Business Expo and a Health Fair, at which local businesses and healthcare providers will distribute information to the public.

Louisiana Delta Ballet

In the wake of the recent flooding affecting the area it can be easy to forget that Easter is right around the corner. The Louisiana Delta Ballet helps celebrate this holiday with the return of its show "Power and Grace" Saturday March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jack Howard Theater of the Monroe Civic Center.

The show returns after several years in part because of an what the company describes as an immense public outcry. Featuring selections of scripture readings, song, and dance the program tells the Easter story, and is intended to both inspire and uplift audience members. 

The Arts With Passion presents a fictional account of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last night on earth. 

The Mountain Top will give a fictional account of the last days of Martin Luther King's life. The play will have a combination of humor and drama.  Pashen Sims will direct and produce the play that will open Saturday evening.

"The playwright does a great job imagining what she thinks the human side of Martin Luther King was. You get to see him without the layers of the iconic 'I Have a Dream' speech." Sims said.
