The College of Arts, Education, and Sciences at the University of Louisiana Monroe along with the International Student Services is hosting this year's Fall Art Crawl Thursday, October 12th. The crawl will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. across serveral campus galleries and studios.

In the midst of the University of Louisiana Monroe's Homecoming Week, the ULM Visual and Performing Arts program is presenting its fall production, The Beggar's Opera. The Beggar's Opera will have its opening night Thursday, October 12th, at 7:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.

The Louisiana Opera is holding its fundraiser in true Mardi Gras style. The opera, Fledermaus, will be performed at the Ouachita Grand Plaza Ballroom on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m. 

This Mardi Gras-themed event will include masks, cabarets, dinner, dessert, and surprises. The Louisiana Opera along with the University of Louisiana Monroe's Chorus, and guest singers from across the United States will be lending their voices to the production.

The University of Louisiana Monroe's Visual and Performing Arts program is hosting its lecture and concert for the Spring 2017 Composer- in - Residence this Tuesday, February 21st. The lecture will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Biedenharn Recital Hall. The concert will also be held in the Recital Hall from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Sydney Guillaume, the composer - in - residence for this semester, currently lives in Portland, Oregan, but is originally from the country of Haiti. His lecture will focus on the Haitian influences that are found his musical compositions.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe is hosting their annual Student and Alumni Art Sale this coming Monday, November 28th to Friday, December 2nd. The sale will take place at the Bry Gallery on campus from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The Student and Alumni Art Sale will feature work from students, faculty, and ULM alums. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from this event will go to the Kappa Pi Delta Alpha art fraternity to help fund their events and art exhibits. The remainder of the money goes to the artist which allows for the continuation of their work.

The Visual and Performing Arts program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe's opening night of Sweeney Todd is Thursday October 28th at 7:30 P.M.  The play will be shown Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

  Every year about 8,000 students spend their summers marching in drum corps. They compete against other bands at competitions throughout the hot days of summer. The Louisiana Stars are no exception. The Corps is based in Lafayette, Louisiana and will tour the United States this summer. They are a member of Drum Corps International.

With summer in full swing, many parents are trying to keep education a priority for their children during these months before school returns.

The University of Louisiana Monroe's School Visual and Performing Arts hosts several camps designed to encourage students to continue their pursuit of art as well as academics. With many camps focusing on STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Director of VAPA Derle Long says there is a great need to emphasize the importance of arts education as well.

The musical RENT brings a message of hope and acceptance from New York’s East Village as a group of artists struggle for significance in the era of HIV/AIDS.
